Broad Street Run (and Post-Race Party) – May 5, 8:30 a.m.

Next Sunday, May 5, 8:30, is the 34th annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run, the nation’s largest ten mile race.  Weather forecast looks positive (not too warm, not raining).  Even though riding the subway is free for those wearing race bibs, be sure to leave plenty of time, particularly if you’re coming from Center City or north.  Around 7 to 7:30, just about every subway will be full before it gets to those areas.

After the race, everyone is invited to the annual post-race party at noted South Philadelphia resident Anthony Locicero’s house (3139 S. 20th St., about 1.5 miles away from the finish).  Plenty of food and beverages will be served.

Representing the USA at the London Marathon

On Sunday, April 21, 2013, Phil Cappa and Ivonne Mosquera-Schmidt will be wearing USA singlets and representing the USA at the Virgin London Marathon.  The marathon is one of the world’s majors, and extra eyes will be on it after the events of Boston this past week.  Ivonne is an exceptional runner and triathlete who just happens to be visually impaired.  She was one of the few chosen by the national organization to compete at the London Marathon, and Phil will act as her guide.  Good luck!
