The South Philly Striders July Social Event will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. It will be a short run over to Devil’s Den at 11th and Ellsworth, followed by drinks and food.
Plan on meeting at the usual run spot of Front/South at 6:15 p.m. for the run. For those wishing to show up directly at the bar, we should be there around 6:45 p.m. Feel free to invite anyone.
The Blue Cross Broad Street Run is Philly’s signature running event. With 30,000 runners, including 25,252 finishers this year, the Broad Street Run is the largest yearly participation event in Philadelphia.
In contrast to last year’s hot and humid race marked by numerous runners passing out and cramping, this year’s run featured perfect mild weather. South Philly Striders runners took advantage of the condition with several great performances. Mike P., Molly and Justin all had excellent Broad Street debuts, while Zana, Donna, Tina, Kristin, Anthony, Kathy, Len and others all posted finished well and/or improved on last year’s times. Many thanks to Anthony for hosting his now annual post-Broad Street Run party.
