There were some big accomplishments for SPS runners at the Back on My Feet in24 races this past weekend.
Both Luis Gaitan and Heather Hoechst gutted out injuries, delirium, dehydration, overhydration, heat, cold, rain, sun, night, fatigue and having to hang out with each other to finish 12 laps and 101.4 miles each (partial credit also to the bevy of SPS and FBR runners who helped pace them, but Luis and Heather deserve all the accolades). In the field of 157 competitors, Heather was the second overall female (and eighth overall), while Luis was second in his age group (and tenth overall).
Meanwhile, in the Midnight Madness loop of 8.45 miles, Sarah Morrison blitzed through the field of 203 runners to win top overall female honors. Her time of 53 minutes 6 seconds was also the second overall time.
Also, Team FBR (with Rachael Harr, Kevin Baxter, Fred Druding, Keith Tomaselli and Justin Relkin) finished third in the Timed Relay, and Team November Project took third in the 12 hour relay.
Before they earned well-deserved naps and rest, Sarah and Heather reportedly promised to throw a big party with their prize money, so be sure to bug them about that.
