Heather Wins USA 50 Mile Road Championships; Tim and Hunter Take Relay

14572273_10208066900617873_8826501805703938099_nOn Sunday, coveted dinner feature speaker (and SPS alum) Heather Hoechst repeated as Tussey Mountainback 50 mile ultra marathon champion with a time of 6 hour 49 minutes and 45 seconds.  More notably, as Tussey doubled this year as the site of the USA 50 Mile Road Championships, Heather has become the latest SPS national champ!

In the relay races, Tim Hein and Hunter Proctor won the Supra division (for two man teams) with a time of 7 hours 2 minutes and 38 seconds.  More importantly, Tim and Hunter had the best relay team name: “Beating Elder Now Geriatric Heather Always Zoning In.” Of course, Heather actually beat the two person team by thirteen minutes, but that’s neither here nor there.

SPS – Philadelphia Marathon Special Event – September 14

The South Philly Striders are partnering up with Philadelphia Marathon for a special run and happy hour. We will have the regular Wednesday Night Bridge Run (6th and Race at 7 p.m.) to run across the Ben Franklin Bridge and back (3 miles). Afterwards, we will run to Lucha Cartel (207 Chestnut Street) for an extended happy hour social event with the Philadelphia Marathon organizers. There will be half price draft beers, $5 margaritas and sangria and appetizer specials. Participants also receive a FREE tech t-shirt and registration discount codes.
